Hope’s Healing Skin Balm

Today I’m heading out to the farm to spend some time crafting with my mom. My mom is in her 80’s and suffers from extremely dry skin, which I inherited. I thought I would whip up a batch before I head out.

   Hope’s Healing Skin Balm

What you will need:

  • Double Boiler or mason jar in pan
  • Jars for completed Balm
  • 1/2 cup bees wax
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup Shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon Glycerin (will draw moisture from air and keep balm working all day)
  • 1/4 cup caster oil
  • 1/4 cup sweet almond oil
  • 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 10 drops Lavender oil (or essential oil of your choice)

Over medium heat, Melt bees wax first and when melted,  add Shea butter and coconut oil, after those have melted add the rest of the oils (all except for the essential oil that we will stir in at the end) leave on stove about 1 minuet and stir well to combine.

Place the container in the freezer for five minutes or until the oils thicken to the consistency of Castor oil and become slightly opaque. Take the container out and beat it with a whisk, adding the essential oil.  Spoon the finished product into a container that is fitted with a lid.

NOTE: Neem Oil Is great in this also, very healing, I’m leaving it out today because it has a very strong smell and I already have raw Shea butter that has a strong smell, I’m adding Lavender oil to help mask but felt using both would be to strong for my mom.
