- 1 cup +2 tablespoons dark beer
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 1⁄4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons honey or 2 tablespoons molasses ( I use molasses but I realize not everyone likes it)
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
Add ingredients to your bread machine in the order recommended by its manufacturer.
Use a basic bread cycle.
*I do not bake mine in the bread machine. I use the dough cycle and then put it in a bread pan let it do one more rise and bake it at 350 for around 30 min. all ovens very so check on it.
NOTE: In the 20+ years a have been using my bread machine I have baked the bread in it exactly One time. I just like the look and outcome better in the oven, so I always use the dough setting and bake in a loaf pan, or if doing artisan bread, I make a round loaf, make a few shallow cuts across the top and bake it on my baking stone.
